I think my best work was the personal essay about my belief in Ice Hockey. I think this because I enjoy writing as myself instead of a character and when I do I find my work better because I enjoy writing more. I think my essay might have been a little too short, I think I should've made it at least 50 words longer. My least successful work was the essay as Karana. I don't enjoy writing as a book character and I can't think as well when I am. When I write as a character I don't add enough detail and I think if I added more detail it would've been better. I see progress in my glogs, they are looking better and are less boring than they were before. That is how I think I did on this project.

Island of the Blue Dolphins vs. Julie of the Wolves
We have just finished two books about survival. In the book Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’ Dell, a girl named Karana gets left behind on an island after jumping off of a ship. In the book Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George, a girl named Miyax gets lost on the arctic tundra after running away from her husband, Daniel. These two books are more alike than different. These two books have many similarities. For example, both characters are females. In both books the characters only friends are animals. For example, Karana and Miyax both get a lot of help from dogs. Rontu was a great hunter and so were Amaroq and Kapu, and Karana and Miyax could not have lived without them. They both persevered in many ways. For example, Karana never gave up; she built a shelter, found food and took very good care of many animals. Miyax tried and tried to find food, and she figured out how to keep herself alive by hunting and fishing. Even though the books are more similar than different, there are some differences. Karana is in a super hot climate and Miyax is in a freezing one. Miyax takes a lot less time to find her way to her destination than Karana. Although these books mostly have many similarities, they have some differences.
This is a poem I wrote for my fifth grade capsule:
The Friday Night Phillies Game By Zach Cahoone
I went to a Phillies game on a Friday night. Two guys got ejected because they got in a fight. A guy ran on the field and trouble was in sight. A foul ball came up and hit me on the head. I got so dizzy I wanted to go to bed. Of course I couldn’t so I stayed awake. Next, out the his cannon the Phanatic shot a cake. I very glad for this because I got dessert and a round of applause. I left that night feeling pretty great with a souvenir bump and a stomach full of cake.
Here is a paragraph I wrote about why I couldn't live without a Mac:
Why I Couldn’t Live Without a Mac By Zach Cahoone
It would be hard to imagine my life without a Mac. When you grow up with amazing technology and get used to using it since you were a kid it’s hard to imagine living without it when you’re older if it no longer existed. Advanced technology shows that today’s people are very advanced. Millions of people count on technology across the globe. This tells the story that our culture is always looking for the next best thing.
